Our co-founder, LucyKilledPaul has been sharing with us a series called The Lost Journal of Lady Azshara. It is really good and worth checking out. It is really interesting to read a first-person piece written from Azshara's perspective. I like the way she has her protagonist continually describing the details of clothing. Our queen is a true material girl!

I put some questions to LucyKilledPaul:

You're name is not actually Lucy, is it?

"No, my name is actually Skye. Lucy is a reference to the Beatles song "Lucy in the sky with Diamonds.""

What can you tell us about your series Lost Journal of Lady Azshara?

"Well there's isn't much more than meets the eye. It's Azshara's diary. Her perspective of how everything went. I've also got a bit of a romance going between the Blood Elf and the Troll that found the journal in the first place. Originally I had planned them to be a comic relief every few chapters but they started to get a story of their own.

Azshara never got to tell her side of the story in all the lore. She was always made out to be the bad guy. I thought it would be interesting to write it from her point of view. The constant outfit changes are a pain and part of what makes the writing so slow and painful."

When can we expect it to be concluded?

"Right now I'm writing the chapter where Xavius introduces the idea of the god (aka the demon Sargeras) that has been speaking to him. This is where things start to get into that very action filled bit where everyone fights to stop the demon.

I plan on using the Harpies a bit in this story. It is said that they are elven females that betrayed Azshara. I'm not sure if they'll fit, but I'd love to use them if I can.

This story is going to end right as Azshara is dragged down into the sea; prior even to her transformation into a naga. That is where this story ends. I plan on making a sequel that details her naga life though I'm not sure how that'll go get. Probably including the troll and the blood elf a bit more."

Is it difficult to make a villain the central character? Do you think we might become more sympathetic to Azshara?

"Not really. I enjoy writing things from the point of view of the antagonists. I've always been very interested in their side of the story. I love to look at it as this woman trying to make a perfect world from her people. When she finds a way many people stop her from making said perfect world.

Azshara isn't really the most sympathetic character in the world. She's vain, arrogant, and she turns out to be one of the most evil characters in WoW lore. There may be moments where you feel pity for her. I want to convey how much she loves her people. This will probably come out later when she's facing her demise and trying to protect her most devout followers. I don't know. Pity her or not she's evil in the end."

How often do you play World of Warcraft?

"Fairly often. Sometimes I'll go a couple of weeks without playing but other times I'll play every day for a month. Right now I'm doing Fireland dailies so I can get into the raid content (Deathwing, I'm gonna get you) so I've been playing every day for a little over a week now."

Do you have any ideas for future work featuring Azshara?

"Yes, as I said I'm planning on making a sequel. It will be the same concept. A log of her life through her own eyes. The only difference is she'll be more twisted and evil. Oh yeah, and a Naga. There has been some speculations that her invasion of the surface was in order to return the favor to the faceless gods that turned her into what she had become. I'll probably follow that angle.

There are also a few more speculations about what lady Vashj was doing in outlands. I won't tell you just yet. You've got to read how that plays out."

Is there anything else you would like to share with AzsharaFans?

"Well all I can say is thank you to everyone who reads my story. I'm flattered to have a journal entry about me as well. Thank you for having me. Haha. And yeah... if you haven't read it I think you should.  It's a fun read."
